Day 1: Arrival in Shillong - A Whiff of the Hills
Your journey begins as you arrive in Shillong, either directly via Shillong Airport or after a beautiful drive up from Guwahati. The winding roads and misty hills greet you with a promise of serenity. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel and unwind. In the evening, enjoy a leisurely walk at Ward's Lake or exp lore the vibrant Police Bazaar. The cool climate and British -era charm of Shillong make it a soothing welcome. Day 2: Day Excursion to Cherrapunji - Nature�s Symphony
After breakfast, gear up for a scenic excursion to Cherrapun ji, famous for its rainfall, caves, and waterfalls. Visit the stunning Nohkalikai Falls plunging from lush cliffs, explore the limestone formations in Mawsmai Caves, and take in panoramic views at Eco Park and Seven Sisters Falls. Optional stops can includ e Arwah Cave or a short nature trail in the wettest region on Earth. Return to Shillong in the evening, tired yet mesmerized. Overnight stay in Shillong.
Day 3: Explore Shillong - Culture, Peaks & Lakes
Today is dedicated to soaking in Shillong's soul. Af ter breakfast, drive up to Shillong Peak for sweeping views of the hill city, followed by a visit to the cascading Elephant Falls. Next, stop at the Don Bosco Museum - a seven -story museum that beautifully documents North East India's tribal culture. Later , visit the Cathedral of Mary Help of Christians or relax at Umiam Lake (Barapani), a serene spot for boating and reflection. Evening free to relax or shop for local handicrafts. Overnight in Shillong.
Day 4: Shillong to Guwahati - From Hills to the Holy B rahmaputra
Post breakfast, check out and drive down to Guwahati, the gateway to Assam and its spiritual essence. Upon arrival, visit the sacred Kamakhya Temple, perched atop Nilachal Hill and overlooking the mighty Brahmaputra. Depending on your arrival t ime, you can also enjoy a sunset river cruise on the Brahmaputra, offering enchanting views of the city skyline and local life. Check in to your hotel and relax. Overnight stay in Guwahati.
Day 5: Departure from Guwahati - Memories in Your Backpack
Post breakfast, check out and drive to Kalimpong, a lesser -known hill station with colonial charm and Buddhist heritage. Upon arrival, visit t he serene Durpin Monastery and take in views of the Teesta River valley. Stroll through local nurseries famous for exotic orchids and cactus collections. Evening at leisure. Overnight stay in Kalimpong.
